Philippe Barnoud
I am happy to share the news that my friend Philippe is featured in Paris Match! These two links will take you to pages online where you can view his remarkable photographic portraiture:
I first met Philippe in New York while he was visiting my workplace with his wife, Isabel, an engineer, from Paris. Since that first meeting we have become transoceanic collaborators. I have introduced his work to several exhibitions here: American Seven at Works/San Jose (2006), Detainee Wear at Bluedahlias Gallery and Studios, San Francisco (2008), Art and Labor Today at SOMArts Cultural Center, San Francisco (2009), and The Legacy of the Triangle/Protecting Workers Today at City College of San Francisco, Mission Campus and ILWU Local 34 Hall , San Francisco (2011). For Philippe’s part, we enjoyed time out for a street performance on Election Day in Paris in 2008. With the help of his daughter Alice, we created costume from drawn and cut paper. Philippe recently enabled me to participate in an exhibition at Paris University by executing my stencil designs for Ecritures en migrations(s): Histoires d’écrits.
Bravo, Philippe!
